Aircraft will go to Montecristi to participate in Fly In and Air Rally

Governor Nelsy Cruz and the director of the DA, Victor Pichardo, toured the place.

On Monday, March 28 and April 11, the Osvaldo Virgil domestic airport will receive a significant number of aircraft that will participate in the first RD 2022 Air Rally and the Montecristi 2022 International Fly In.

That Fly In is organized by the renowned private aviation promoters Catherine Toberas and Jim Parker, respectively.

The executive director of the Airport Department (DA), Víctor Pichardo, toured the facilities of the place, where he supervised the work being carried out, as part of the rescue and rehabilitation project for domestic airport terminals in the country. The work carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works consists of resurfacing the runway, which measures 1,230 meters by 22 meters wide; He was 15 years old without intervention.

Pichardo toured the airport together with the provincial governor, Nelsy Cruz Martínez, and the deputy executive director, Abelardo Rutinel, where he also indicated that the renovation includes the aircraft parking platform, repair of the perimeter fence, and reconditioning of the terminal building.

“This airport is going to become one of the emblematic points for non-commercial private aviation tourism in the Dominican Republic, since more than 40,000 aircraft pass through the Atlantic that visit the Bahamas and other islands in search of tourism. nice,” said the public official.

He pointed out that with the support of all the agencies in the sector, the Ministry of Public Works, the provincial government, as well as the strong support of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, the rescue and maintenance of private aviation tourism in the national territory.

In a second stage, the works also contemplate the construction of a more modern terminal.
