Abinader leaves for Switzerland to expose DR experience in handling COVID 19 and economic recovery

Santo Domingo .- President Luis Abinader left for Switzerland after 7:15 p.m., on a commercial flight through the Punta Cana International Airport, to participate in the 75th World Health Assembly and the World Economic Forum (WEF), at be held in the cities of Geneva and Davos, respectively.

His arrival is scheduled for 11:30 am on Saturday morning, Swiss local time.

He was fired by Vice President Raquel Peña; Defense Minister Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa; the director of the Airport Department, Víctor Pichardo and the director of the Specialized Body for Airport Security and Civil Aviation, Carlos R. Febrillet Rodríguez.

In the European nation, the head of state will speak about the experience of the Dominican Republic in handling COVID 19, the post-pandemic economic crisis and the recovery of tourism.

The delegation that accompanies him is made up of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez; his personal assistant, Mercedes Pichardo; Eilyn Beltran, Secretary General of the National Palace Cabinet, and General Jimmy Arias Grullón, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Security Corps.

The ambassadors are added, Virgilio Alcántara, head of the mission in the World Health Organization (WHO); from the Swiss Confederation, Pablo Valentín; and the president’s press director Daniel Garcia Archibald, who is already in Switzerland.

75th World Health Assembly – Geneva
On Saturday the 20th, the president will hold a meeting with the director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and then he will meet with the heads of state and government participating in the summit.

On Sunday 22 he will have his speech at the welcome of the 75th World Health Assembly.

World Economic Forum – Davos
Later, the Dominican president will leave for Davos, where the World Economic Forum, also called the Davos Forum, is being held.

On Monday the 23rd, he will hold bilateral meetings with important international business entities, and in the evening he will participate in the dinner offered by Klaus Martín Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum, for the heads of State and Government, International Organizations and special guests.

On Tuesday the 24th, he will participate in the press conference on the launch of the Travel and Tourism Development Index and will return to the Dominican Republic on Wednesday the 25th.
