The Attorney General of the Nation, Juan Gómez, will appear before the Administrative Affairs Commission of the Senate on Wednesday at the request of Senator Graciel Bianchi (Herrerismo) to explain the criteria for the measures he took after the filing of 300 files referring to abuses in an hour.
Bianchi told Diario La R that he will interrogate Gómez for what he understands to be a difference in criteria when evaluating the functioning of the prosecutor’s offices. Although the legislator preferred to leave her questions and data for the meeting, she revealed that she will handle information on the actions of the prosecution in the so-called Operation Ocean.
In turn, he clarified that in addition to what happened with prosecutor Raúl Iglesias, he has other issues to discuss with Gómez.
Asked about why Gómez was called to the Administrative Affairs Committee, Bianchi considered that it is a common procedure, because it is the parliamentary group that understands the voting of bows.
The invitation to Gómez was resolved by the commission in June, at the request of Bianchi “for the purpose of learning about the disciplinary criteria that apply to prosecutors.”
The prosecutor for sexual crimes, Raúl Iglesias, was accused of filing 300 cases of sexual crimes, shortly after taking office, by the Feminist Intersocial.
At the request of Gómez, Iglesias was removed from office and a summary was instructed to which he resorted. Likewise, Iglesias was the subject of a complaint from the Legal Office of the Faculty of Law “for repeated breaches of duties in the investigation” in the case of an alleged gang rape in the Cordón neighborhood, a case that had a high media profile.
