The public debt The consolidated economy of the country, including the intergovernmental, grew US$7,716.7 million in the first half of this year, to an increase of 11.1%as it went from US$62,036.8 million in December 2021 to US$69,753.5 million.
Of that amount, US$51,804.4 million correspond to the debt of the non-financial public sector (SPNF) and the remaining US$17,949.1 million to the liabilities of the Central Bank, said the Regional Center for Sustainable Economic Strategies (CREES), based on data from the General Directorate of Public Credit and the Central Bank.
As a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP), the NFPS debt represented 47.5% and that of the Central Bank, 16.5%, placing the consolidated public debt at 64% of GDP as of June.

Remittances exceeded 5,600 million dollars in 7 months
On the other hand, the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) reports that, between the months of January and July 2022, the remittances received reached a figure of US$5,669.7 million.
It also highlights that this amount exceeds by US$1,572.0 million the remittances received in the first seven months of 2019, the period prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19and in which the United States did not yet have the aid schemes that were implemented after March 2020 and ended in September 2021, which is why, when comparing the flows received as of July 2022 with those of the same period of 2021, a reduction of about US$490 million is observed.
The BCRD adds that in the month of July 2022 remittances totaled US$808.6 million. These figures reaffirm the establishment of a new level of flows of monthly remittances around US$800.0 million.
In that sense, when comparing this amount of July 2022 with the value averaged in the same month for the period prior to the pandemic from 2015-2019, which was US$533.1 million, a significant increase is observed.
