Armed Forces: Two Soldiers Die After Clashes with Shining Path Terrorists

The Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFAA) reported that two troops died as a result of clashes – which began on August 11 – of military and police patrols against members of Sendero Luminoso, in the Vizcatán (Vraem) area.

In a statement, it was specified that both died yesterday, Friday, August 12. They are the 2nd FFEE non-commissioned officer Edín Vásquez Huamán and the 2nd IMA officer Marden Valqui Rodríguez.

Operations started on Thursday

On the morning of Thursday, August 11, the Armed Forces and the National Police, with the participation of the Public Ministry, began combat operations against Terrorist Criminals (DDTT) of the Shining Path terrorist organization.
