Zully Rolón denies accusations of Santiago Peña

The Bicameral Commission of Investigation (CBI) of money laundering, held its third meeting on Tuesday. On the occasion, Zully Rolón, minister of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad) and René Fernández, minister of the National Anti-Corruption Secretariat (Senac) were invited.

Five of the six members of said CBI participated in person; the senators; Salyn Buzarquis and Juan Afara. In addition to the deputies Jorge Ávalos Mariño, Hugo Ramírez and Basilio “Bachi” Núñez.

Virtually, Jorge Querey, senator for the Guasu Front and president of said commission, was present.

During the CBI meeting on money laundering, Zully Rolón, minister of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad), denied some expressions of the presidential candidate Santiago Peña (Honor Colorado – ANR).

The politician had announced that former Minister Giuzzio was being forced by intelligence agents to give him confidential information.

“Santiago Peña maintained that Giuzzio forces intelligence agents to hand over information. Special agents are people who work bravely and it was an offense to them. There is no way Senad is going to do that,” he stated.

Then, she also questioned that at some point, Peña treated her as Giuzzio’s assistant.

“The assistants and secretaries do a great job in our country. Because I am a woman, you cannot treat me pejoratively (with contempt). I have value on my own merits,” she commented.

He reported that drug trafficking, according to international data, is the second largest industry in the world after oil, since it generates US$ 300 billion a year.

The Secretary of State mentioned that Senad is working to reduce supply and demand. However, on the second, which consists of the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, it cannot advance because they have a low budget.
