The Argentine tennis player Horacio Zeballos, in partnership with the Spanish Marcel Granollers, defeated this Wednesday the duo formed by the local John Peers and the German Andreas Mies by 6-4, 6-7 (2-7) and 6-2 and qualified for the doubles semifinals of the Australian Open, which takes place in Melbourne.

Zeballos and Granollers reached the quarterfinal match, which was played at the Kia Arena, after beating the South Africans Raven Klaasen and Lloyd Harris 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) on Sunday.

Thus, the Argentine and the Spanish equaled the performance of 2022 when they fell in the semifinals against the locals Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis 7-6 (4) and 6-4.

Now they will seek to surpass that mark and reach the final this Thursday, starting at 0.30 (Argentine time), when they face the Australians Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler, who clearly defeated the top seed, the Dutch Wesley Koolhof and the British Neal Skupski , by 6-3 and 6-1.

Gustavo Fernández achieved an epic comeback and also qualified for the semis in adapted tennis

The Cordovan Gustavo Fernández, number two in the world, beat the Spanish Martín de la Puente 2-6, 7-5 and 6-0 and advanced to the semifinals of the Australian Open wheelchair tennis.

The Argentine recovered from an adverse start where he lost to the Iberian player, with whom he shares his coach Fernando San Martín, by 2-6 and 1-5, but then took the next 12 games to achieve an epic victory.

Fernández had just beaten the Dutchman Ruben Spaargaren (6th) 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and will now seek the final against the Japanese Tokito Oda, third seed in the tournament.
