A yellow alert for strong storms and heavy rains in the west, center and north of the country is in effect from 6 a.m.informed the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet).
In affected areas you can expect “intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind”the institute said.
The alert begins, from south to north, in Colonia, reaches Durazno in the center of the country and ascends to the northeast of Artigas.
Inumet indicated that the alert will update at 9 o’clockor before significant changes.
