The former Minister of the Interior of Sebastián Piñera, Rodrigo Delgado, called to “leave the complexes behind” and propose the implementation of a state of exception for the Metropolitan Region that “provides guarantees” amid the increase in crime and violent acts in the capital.
In a conversation with Meganoticias, the former mayor of Estación Central pointed out how the Government of President Gabriel Boric “has had to turn around with respect to certain criteria,” such as the implementation of the State of Exception in the southern part of the country.
“More than confronting the government and saying ‘look, they actually realized it late, I think we have to leave the complexes behind.”
In that sense, Delgado put on the table the possibility of resorting to the instance in the Metropolitan Region, as a result of the various acts of violence and crimes.
“Why not think about tomorrow perhaps a state of exception in the RM that could provide guarantees? Because beware, the state of exception is not necessarily restricting the freedom of people as it was thought it would be done in the southern zone,” he said.
