Wilmar Elera apologizes for his statements: “I have to make a mea culpa, I was wrong”

The third vice president of Congress, Wilmar Elera (Somos Peru), apologized for the statements he gave about the rape complaint against the parliamentarian Freddy Diaz (not grouped).

The parliamentarian made mea culpa and said he was wrong with the statements he made this Sunday morning in an interview for TV Peru. In that sense, he said that his words were taken out of context.

“I have to make a mea culpa, I was wrong to give an expression that has come out of all context and has been an idea of ​​how old I am (…) This type of attitude makes one learn. I do not agree with the fact that there are more men and there is liquor is a conducive environment” declared for the press.

“What I meant is that this enabling environment is for the rapist, not for the victim.. In that sense, I sympathize with the person who has been raped because really in no context, neither because of liquor, nor because of the majority of men, nor because of the way they dress, does he have to violate a woman.”, he added.

Likewise, Elera García reiterated that she recognized the mistake she made in providing these statements and apologized to all the women in Congress and to all the women in the country.

“I am admitting my mistake. What I want is to show my face and indicate that I am not a person who does not have family commitments. As such, the apologies, not only for all the ladies of the Congress, for all the women of Peru”, he stated.

What did Congressman Elera say?

Previously, the parliamentarian referred to the complaint of rape against Díaz Monago and said that there was an environment conducive to the commission of said crime, since she was the only woman who worked in an area where the rest of her colleagues were men.

“As far as I have been able to find out, I think the lady is the only woman who works in the all-male space, which has created a much more conducive environment, especially when they start drinking liquor”, he stated in an interview with TV Peru.
