Water supply will be rationed in Nuevo León to face water crisis: Juan Barragán

Monterey, NL. Starting next Tuesday, March 22, the Water and Drainage Services of Monterrey going to ration the water supply. Every day there will be a normal supply between 5 and 9 in the morning; however, one day a week, the supply will be limited to a minimum during the rest of the day, and for this the city was divided into seven sectors. Metropolitan areasaid the director, Juan Ignacio Barragan Villarreal.

“From 5 to 9 am everyone will have water and one day a week the pressure will be reduced in each sector, in order not to cut off water, with the aim of avoiding leaks or voids in the pipe, it is a matter of reduction, not cut, because it would be to close 100%, “said the official.

“If consumption rises, there will be no water to give. The previous government used the strategy of lengthening the league, it was an irresponsible attitude, we have to reduce the water pressure because (the capacity) of the dams are running out”, he alerted.

On Mondays the service is reduced in the Zone 1 which includes a part of the municipality of Apodaca, Fishery, Cienega de Flores and Zuazua.

On Tuesday, the reduction will take place in the zone 2in the municipalities of Guadeloupea small part of Apodacaa part of San nicolas de los heros and of Juarez.

Wednesday, it’s the turn for the zone 3which covers part of San nicolas de los heros and Garcia.

Thursday corresponds to Zone 4which limits service in South Monterey.

Friday, service is reduced in the Zone 5to which corresponds a part of San nicolas de los heros, escobedo and the west of Monterey.

Saturday, understand the zone 6which encompasses San Pedro Garza Garcia, St. Catarina and a part of Garcia.

And on Sunday the service in the Zone 7consisting of the municipalities of Juarez, Cadereyta and north of Monterey.

Barragan Villarreal He stressed that these sectors were analyzed by the number of inhabitants living in areas near the different storage tanks.

He said that the criterion was taken to provide the normal water supply between 5 and 9 in the morning because these are the hours in which the citizens are about to go out to their various activities.

He estimated that it is necessary to replenish 2 to 3 cubic meters per second, to prevent the La Boca Dam run out of water.
