Venezuela joins the Global Gateway initiative with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing gas production in the country, reported the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, Rodríguez indicated that Venezuela joined the Global Gateway initiative, launched during the III CELAC-EU Summit.
He also pointed out that Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) will be responsible for executing said strategy.
“During the III #CELACUE Summit and the launch of the Global Gateway initiative, the project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase gas production in Venezuela has been incorporated; This action will be carried out in #Monagas, between @PDVSA and European energy companies”, published the Vice President.

The European Global Gateway strategy is an initiative of the European Commission, launched, at the end of 2021, under the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Its objective is to contribute to the development of the member countries of the European Union (EU), particularly on the African continent, through the mobilization of the private sector, in order to promote the digital, energy and ecological transition in emerging countries. and in development, referred to the digital portal of the Embassy of France in Argentina.
The project plans to disburse up to 300 billion euros through all its member states for investments with sustainable projects until the year 2027.
This strategy is structured around five axis priority:
- Sector digital: access to digital infrastructures, regulatory framework for protection, development of skills;
- climate and energy: energy networks, renewable energy and management of key minerals, sustainable agri-food systems, water/sanitation, waste management, preservation of ecosystems;
- Transport: railway, port, airport and highway networks, logistics centers and multimodal platforms, agreements and regulatory convergences;
- Health: security of pharmaceutical supply chains and development of local production capacities;
- education and research: access to quality education, including professional training, promotion of exchanges and creation of academic and research networks.
