The Sector Vice President for Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, announced that Venezuela and Iran will establish coordination mechanisms to expand the benefits of Venezuelan clinical research and vice versa.
The announcement was made during an interview on the program “A Pulso”, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, where he also reported that this Saturday the 27th, the first scientists will leave the stem cell laboratory of the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC).
He assured that the specialists will participate in a process of technical exchange and research experiences at the Royan Institute of Reproductive Biomedicine, Stem Cell Biology and Technology at the Shariati hospital in Tehran and will return to the country in December.
Iran-Venezuela Science and Technology Fair
The Sectoral Vice President highlighted that this Friday a meeting of the organizing technical committee of the Iran-Venezuela Science and Technology Fair was held, where the attendance of technology companies to participate was confirmed.
He mentioned that the meeting discussed the sectors of interest to strengthen the exchange, tentative dates for the event, which will be presented to the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
He also stressed that the organizational, technical and administrative setting of the fair, which will feature more than 150 scientific and technologist exhibitors from Iran, is also being studied.
In addition, the Minister also commented that “there is a counterpart, the Vice President of Science and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Sorena Sattari and his ambassador in Venezuela, Hojjatollah Soltani; as well as the teams of the respective vice ministries and ministries of both nations.”
“The fair is going from strength to strength, we have very good news that the president is going to announce in the coming days and that it will be an extraordinary opportunity for a great scientific-technological-industrial alliance,” Jiménez asserted.

He explained that in terms of cooperation, Venezuela and Iran have agreements in Science and Technology since 2019, with the exchange of scientists, cooperation, seminars; as well as cooperation in agricultural biotechnology for the study, research and production of medicines, starting from medicinal plants.
He commented that the Pharmaceutical Engine will be involved in these sessions, and they will create “a great alliance for the study of our medicinal plants to advance innobotany and pharmacognosy, which is part of the science of studying the medicinal principles of plants.”
