Cuba and Venezuela will go to a “creative and profound refoundation” of the bilateral cooperation map, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reported Tuesday after meeting with the island’s Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero.
“We are going to refound the cooperation map with Cuba to improve, deepen, expand mutual support, together, united, visualizing the rest of this 2022-2030 period,” he said from the Miraflores Palace.
He affirmed that the “creative, creative and deep” refoundation aims for cooperation “to be adapted to the new times, to the new era”, and allow a positive impact on the social, economic and cultural life “of the people of Cuba and the people of Venezuela.
He indicated that the meeting reviewed not only the bilateral agenda, but also the Latin American, Caribbean and regional agenda.
“We have seen the current world in the east, west, in the south. A good, intense meeting,” Maduro said.
The Cuban Prime Minister agreed with the Venezuelan president and stressed that the refoundation of cooperation is due to the fact that times have changed and “there is a mutual agreement that it is time to review and see how we adjust to these times.”
“But not to weaken that agreement, it is to perfect and strengthen it, to see how we identify new things, collaboration and cooperation niches and what we do to continue reinforcing it, especially the impact of that Barrio Adentro mission,” he added.
As part of his work agenda, Marrero reported that he held a meeting with the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, to discuss economic issues and exchange experiences.
“We are two blockaded countries, two countries that have had to face the consequences of that blockade, but also the consequence of this entire international crisis,” he said.
Therefore, he described the exchange of ideas as interesting to see “how many things we can do to improve our economies, to improve the population’s quality of life.”
His work agenda also included a visit to two Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI) where he noted “the show of satisfaction, of affection towards Cuba,” and full recognition of the medical staff.
brotherhood relationship
Maduro affirmed that Caracas and Havana are an example of what two peoples “that we consider ourselves brothers” can do.
He said that “all the issues of historical cooperation that have been forged in recent years were reviewed, after the Bolívar-Martí agreement signed by Presidents Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez Frías since October 2000, when “new fields of cooperation were built in health, energy, in the economy, education, in culture».
He stressed that both Cuba and Venezuela are “always united in permanent resistance”, with a view to a profound rebirth of their cooperation and their revolutions.
«(Marrero) has brought us the greeting of General Raúl Castro. Soon we are going to Cuba for a series of meetings of great importance and with the joy of meeting Raúl and sharing, talking,” said the president, who also praised the work of his Cuban counterpart Miguel Díaz-Canel.
“He is hard-working, honest, disciplined, he dedicates 24 hours to work and we are pleased that he is attentive to strengthening relations,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Marrero ratified the ties of brotherhood between both nations by assuring that Cuba will always defend Venezuela and President Maduro.
“We have brought a clear concept that in any circumstance we are going to be cooperating with Venezuela and not offering what we have left over, but sharing what we have. And we have the potential to continue strengthening this agreement », he added.
In his speech, Maduro expressed his solidarity with the Cuban people and government after the accident that occurred last week at the Hotel Saratoga, located in Havana.
