The National Vaccination Advisory Commission (CNAV) recommended to the Ministry of Public Health the application of the third dose of the anticovid vaccine for minors with comorbidities who are between 12 and 17 years old, the portfolio reported in a statement.
Includes people with chronic diseases (cardiac, pulmonary, renal insufficiency, metabolic, neuromuscular, hepatic and hematological).
The MSP pointed out in the letter that people with Down syndrome and patients with immunosuppressive conditions were already included in the booster dose vaccination. “The agenda will be opened opportunely,” she indicated.
The members of the commission also discussed this Wednesday the possible application of a fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine for those over 50 who have two doses of Sinovac and one of Pfizer, informed the Minister of Health, Daniel Salinas, to The Observer. However, that definition will be finalized next week.
The CNAV session went into recess until next week, when it will continue to study the issues on the agenda, the statement added.
The routes for scheduling remain unchanged since the beginning of the vaccination plan. The MSP reminded them through Twitter this Wednesday.
Uruguay acquired 3.7 million vaccines from Pfizer by 2022in an addendum to the contract with the German laboratory signed in October 2021. With these doses it was intended to have the necessary vaccines to continue with the third dose vaccination scheme, which the government has marked as essential for the campaign against the virus on several occasionsand also for a possible annual booster.
until this wednesday 82.9% of the Uruguayan population was vaccinated at least once against covidthe 76.2% have the complete vaccination schedule (two doses) while the 52.9% already have the booster vaccine.
