Andrea Robaina, owner of Alfajores del Uruguay, commented to Coffee & Business that It was a surprise that the best alfajor in the country was one that does not have dulce de leche. The one chosen is one of the first that the company began to manufacture and consists of two vanilla cookies, a lemon ganache filling and a heart lemon cream, with a white chocolate coating.

Alfajores del Uruguay was born in 2014, with the idea of ”bringing together the signature cafeteria and the alfajor, for the tourist,” said the owner. At first the place sold different brands of Uruguayan alfajores, but her owner always had the dream of creating her own alfajores, although due to lack of time she hadn’t had the chance. Two years ago that changed, “the pandemic allowed us to reinvent ourselves and we started making our own alfajores,” she said. Today, they have almost 30 of their own alfajores. Lemon is one of the rarest, she said.
