Until last January 27, Meduca had repaired 292 schools of the 627 that should be ready by March 7

The Ministry of Education (Meduca) advances with the repair of 627 schools before the start of the school year, next March 7.

Of that total of educational centers that are part of Operation CON Escuelas 2022, as of January 27, 292 had already been repaired, that is, 46.5%, according to the latest Meduca report.

The document indicates that there are currently 136 schools under attention throughout the country and in them, for the time being, $725,355 have been invested. In total, 199 educational centers still need to be repaired.

As part of this project, the installation of 17 modular classrooms in 4 schools in the Guna Yala region (Carreto, Nabagandí, Sahila Iguanaisy and Nalunega General Basic Education Center) is included, which represents an enrollment of 931 students.

The budget allocated for the work in the 627 educational centers throughout the country, selected for the development of CON Escuelas 2022, is $2,276,902, which will benefit 158,998 students.

There are 3,102 schools in the country and Meduca’s goal is that when classes start, 80% or 90% are ready.

Meduca hopes to start the school year smoothly, after two years of distance education due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
