UNHCR Executive Committee President Kadra Ahmed visited Colombia to provide support to Venezuelan migrants and displaced persons. The United Nations Agency for Refugees (Acnur) assured that Colombia is going through a crucial moment that requires renewed efforts on the part of “all actors” to support the displaced, refugees and migrants in the country.
This was stated this Wednesday, May 17, at the end of her visit to Colombia, by the president of UNHCR’s executive committee, Kadra Ahmed Hassan, who learned first-hand of “the complex humanitarian situation in the country” and called for “a greater support from the international community to achieve lasting solutions,” the UN agency explained in a statement.

“Supporting the victims so that they can overcome this situation has been the main reason for UNHCR’s presence in Colombia for almost three decades,” the statement said, adding that in Colombia there are more than 6.8 million victims of forced displacement and 2.47 million Venezuelan refugees and migrants.
