Two soldiers who were in pursuit of members of the Tren del Llano that operate between Tucupido and Valle de la Pascua died due to crossfire, according to military sources.
The deceased are identified as José Herrera Escobar, with the rank of third sergeant major, attached to Army Battalion 913 and first sergeant Renzo Nazaret Aranguren Sequera Renzo, belonging to the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas) 34.
Escobar and Aranguren left in commission this Thursday morning to the La Reforma sector, José Félix Ribas municipality (Tucupido), together with 58 other soldiers. Upon arriving at the site, they destroyed a hideout of the Tren del Llano and seized 3 FAL magazines, 3 motorcycles, a snail-type magazine, and rifle ammunition.
The criminal group fled and the military caught up with them at a place where they confronted each other with firearms, resulting in injuries to Escobar and Aranguren, who died in a health center in Tucupido.
