Two people dead and two others injured after a shooting in Montevideo

A new violent event that took place in the country’s capital on Sunday night ended the lives of two people and compromised the lives of two others.

The incident emerged after the 9-1-1 emergency service received numerous calls reporting a shooting. According to the complainants, the incident occurred on Camino Leandro Gómez, between 20 Metros and Sistina streets, near Piedras Blancas.

The agents quickly moved to the site and there they found four people with gunshot wounds lying on the ground. The wounded received immediate transfer to various health centers: at Hospital Pasteurthe Capitan Tula Polyclinic and the Malinas Polyclinic.

Time after entering the health centers, the death of two people was confirmed. The first deceased was a 60-year-old man who entered Mechelen; On the other hand, in the early hours of the morning, the second person died, an 18-year-old boy who was in Capitan Tula. Neither of them had criminal records.

Two injured with a history

The other two victims of the attack remain hospitalized. One of the subjects is a 27-year-old man with a history of robbery who was shot in the leg. The person refused to file a complaint and is admitted to the Pasteur Hospital.

Finally, a 29-year-old man with a criminal record for homicide and another for reception is hospitalized in Capitan Tula. This person was shot multiple times.

According to investigative sources, the attack occurred from two vehicles: a motorcycle and a truck. They moved around the area and opened fire, witnesses said. Police seized about 18 bullet casings at the site.

Currently, the investigative staff of Operational Zone II of the Montevideo Police Headquarters is working on the case.
