Tuto recalls that the future chancellor of Chile denied Jeanine Áñez her freedom

The Former President Jorge Tuto Quiroga made a harsh criticism and sent a message to the future Foreign Minister of Chile, Antonia Urrejola Noguera, who previously served as president of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), and to whom responsible for being the “jailer” of Jeanine Áñez.

And it is that in October 2021, the IACHR rejected the request for precautionary measures made by the defense of former president Áñez and closed the case of his possible release, an issue for which the daughter of the former president, Carolina Ribera, was also interceding, who criticizes the “inhumane treatment” received by his mother by the national government.

In March, Áñez has been apprehended for a year and has been preventively detained in a prison in La Paz. In the last few hours, the former president declared a hunger strike and this Thursday the hearing that was scheduled for the ‘Coup d’etat II’ case was suspended.

In this context, Tuto Quiroga addressed Urrajola and the summoned “to be pronounce publicly. You had in your hands the precautionary measure that prevented Jeanine Áñez from being released. “What a shame, the people who worked with you must also be ashamed because you were able to free Jeanine Áñez, you did not and now you are silent,” said Tuto.

The former president of Bolivia argued his position by referring to the report of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI), regarding the situation in Bolivia, where it is established that preventive detention is abused on national territory and that the classification of the crimes of sedition and terrorism “it’s aberrational”.

And precisely these two examples are those that apply in the situation of Jeanine Áñez.

Quiroga also maintained that it is about time that the State institutions that worked and recognized Jeanine Áñez to speak out, since they also extended her mandate with an indefinite date due to the issue of fraud and to call for elections in the midst of a pandemic.

Meanwhile, it is known that Urrejola will assume the position of foreign minister on March 11 in Chile, from where he will have the task of carrying out the issue of the conflict over the Silala with Bolivia, as well as defending the country’s confinement.
