Three dead and two injured were left in Portuguesa by a multiple crash that occurred on the afternoon of this Wednesday, January 1, on the Guanare-Biscucuy road, Sucre municipality.
The accident occurred near the La Repolla sector, also known as Los Yánez, when the driver of a Keeway motorcycle tried to overtake a Jeep on the Guanare road, colliding head-on with a Bera motorcycle that was coming in the opposite direction and hitting a the rustic vehicle, Toyota brand, Land Cruise model, plates AJL-178.
According to the police report, the deceased were the two drivers of the motorcycles and a citizen who was traveling as a passenger on one of the machines. They all died at the scene and were taken to the Guanare hospital morgue.
The victims suffered head trauma and multiple trauma and were identified as Rubén Darío Benítez (44), Pedro Luis González (23) and Fleidy Márquez (16).
The injured were passengers on one of the motorcycles and were also taken to the hospital to receive medical attention, where they remain confined. These are Merlin Montilla (19) and Carlos Alberto Vásquez (46).
Security agencies reported that the driver of the vehicle, Eliomar Escobar Durán (36), was unharmed.
The Bolivarian National Police (PNB) was in charge of removing the incident and is carrying out investigations into the case.
