The activities prior to the Eighth Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of People’s Power, in its IX Legislature, dedicate the Sunday day to debate in the permanent work commissions, with a broad program, which includes, as a common theme, the analysis of the Draft State Budget Law and the objectives of the 2021 Economy Plan, as well as the prospects for 2022.
The Economic Affairs Commission meets in the plenary hall of the Convention Center, with the presence of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
Simultaneously, in other committees, the deputies will analyze issues related to agriculture, as well as the process of control and implementation of legal norms approved by Parliament, such as the Law on Land Waters, the Law on Fisheries, and the Law on National Symbols and the Decree-Law of the Postal Service, among other matters.
In correspondence with each commission, the parliamentarians will also discuss the improvement of Popular Power, the advancement of the Maternal and Child Care Program and issues related to sport.
In the same way, the opinions of the draft laws that will be submitted to the approval of the National Assembly of People’s Power in its ordinary session will be prepared as a whole.
The work commissions, “the right arm for the permanent control of Parliament”, as Homero Acosta, secretary of the National Assembly described them, had not been able to meet in person during the last two years, due to the COVID-19 epidemic. 19.
Among the issues to be debated by the deputies this Sunday, in addition to the Economy Plan for 2022 and its behavior in 2021, and the State Budget for next year, will be the control and implementation of the legal regulations approved by the ANPP, the improvement of People’s Power and the progress of the accountability process.
After two years without meeting in person, due to the epidemiological situation in the country, the National Assembly of People’s Power returns to session with a varied and intense agenda, at its usual headquarters, the Havana Convention Center, with an eye on the economic and social development of the nation, and with an agenda focused on the concerns of the people.
