During the reopening of the Tiburcio Cachón Visual Rehabilitation Center, the President of the Republic Luis Lacalle Pou referred to the sentence handed down for his former head of custody Alejandro Astesiano.
In an impromptu press conference, the president said: “I simply want to refer to what I always said when they interviewed me on this issue, ‘he is in the Court'”, and added “today the Court spoke.”
Asked about the political repercussions of the sentence, the president replied that “I have no idea, politically I don’t know. Ask (sic) those who use it politically”.
“Each one knows what he does with his mouth, each one knows what he does with his political actions, each one later knows the consequences that this has in political confrontations,” he said.
