Electricity is the most economical system in Uruguay
The country is experiencing record-breaking peaks in demand due to high energy consumption, and many users want to check whether or not they are opting for the best option, depending on each case.
UTE’s energy use campaigns are gaining more prominence these days in light of the historic polar cold that is hitting the country, so it is worth knowing the plans and incentives it offers.
According to UTE estimates, from the point of view of efficiency for the user, the monthly cost of heating a 20 square meter room is: with a Smart Plan heat pump $ 492; Smart Plan air conditioning equipment: $ 697; high-performance wood stove $ 938; pellet stove $ 1,003; Smart Plan electric stove $ 1,951; supergas stove $ 1,988; closed wood stove (salamander) $ 2,010, balanced natural gas draft $ 2,222 and traditional wood stove $ 4,691.
This means that the most economical system in Uruguay is the electric one, when the appropriate plan is used.
This has been highlighted by UTE President Silvia Emaldi to the media on several occasions, within the framework of Uruguay’s policy of deepening the use of “clean and renewable energy”.
In this regard, the entity stresses that electric energy, in addition to being economical, is the most efficient, low maintenance and continuous supply, among other advantages, compared to other sources of heating.
Finally, UTE is carrying out a “more air plan,” which is a pilot experience aimed at 3,000 customers with a simple residential rate and consists of discounts of 45% of the price of energy applied to the consumption of the home’s air conditioner(s) during weekends and holidays. This experience is designed to improve home air conditioning and the state entity will evaluate whether it is possible to extend it to more users.
