Although at the beginning of the week the border crossing between Colombia and Venezuela was opened, many people continue to doubt the requirements to cross legally. Know the schedules and regulations for transit
It is estimated that until before the diplomatic reestablishment and the reopening of the borders between Colombia and Venezuela, approximately 30,000 people passed through these steps daily; figure that was mainly increased by the so-called pendulum migrants, those people who worked and live or study on the other side.
Since Monday, September 26, the passage of pedestrians and cargo vehicles has been enabled and, although everything seems to have returned to normal, it is still not very clear how the transfer should be carried out legally.
For example, only in the department of Norte de Santander were three pedestrian crossings enabled, which have specific schedules for traffic. Starting with the Simón Bolívar international bridge, which is the largest crossing, which connects the sector known as La Parada, in Villa del Rosario (Colombia), with San Antonio del Táchira (Venezuela), which opens at 5:00 am and operates until 8:00 pm, he recalled Infobae.
On one side of the bridge you will find the respective offices and checkpoints of the immigration authorities, specifically for those who must stamp their passport; for this procedure they must present the identity document, or permit for temporary protection.
This same dynamic applies to the passage enabled on the Francisco de Paula Santander bridge, which goes from the state of Táchira, at the point known as El Escobal, which communicates directly with the city of Cúcuta. There, too, the office hours of the immigration offices are from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The other step in this department is the Unión bridge that goes from Puerto Santander to the town of Boca de Grita, in the state of Táchira, which, like the previous ones, operates at the same times.
But all this raises the first big doubt, Is it always necessary to stamp the passport? the answer is no, It is only necessary to carry out this procedure if you want to go further into the interior of the countries, or outside the so-called border areas. For this, you will have to request a stamp at the immigration office and within a period of no more than 12 hours they will have to stamp the mark on the passport, which will give you a valid stay of three months.
In the case of those who access through the air terminals, they must do the same and before the flight, they will have to fill out the so-called ‘Check – Mig’ on the Colombia Migration page, this for Colombian citizens.
If you must transit with pets, you can do so by presenting the card or vaccination card, where it is verified that it has the complete scheme, mainly applied the doses against rabies.

The last thing you need to be aware of is that people may make the crossing in search of medical attention, to stock up on food or medicine, even for personal reasons. However, keep in mind that since 2019 a resolution was issued where a list of goods and other products of the family basket is established, which can pass through the border crossings.
But, it must be taken into account that weekly transit of up to 50 units of tax value can be made, which means: one UVT represents 38,004 pesos, that is, it cannot exceed $1,900,200 in the products that you want to pass through the crossings. , indicated the news portal.
Of that value, 40 UVT, more or less 1.5 million pesos can be: food, cleaning and/or personal hygiene products, footwear, clothing, among others. The other 10 can be pet or sporting goods, or even things meant to be transported.
For this reason, it is recommended that people always transit with the invoices, this in case an immigration agent requires it, you can verify the legality of the products that you are passing. Additionally, for Colombians, if you enter up to a thousand dollars, you will not have to pay any tariff cost.
