They will revolutionize the neurosurgery service at the Luis Chicho Fábrega hospital with a new craniotome

The Luis Chicho Fábrega hospital already has a craniotome, which will improve the service of the neurosurgery department of this hospital, which aims to become one of the most complete in neurosurgery.

The craniotome is a device that is used to drill into bone tissues. It can be said that this equipment, used in neurosurgery procedures (Skull and Spine), as well as in orthopedics, maxillofacial surgery and otorhinolaryngology, are a kind of medical drill.

This equipment includes two hand pieces that can be angular or straight and the drill piece that can be straight or curved.

Neurosurgeon Albino de León said that this equipment was acquired as a first step to make the neurosurgery service become an example and one of the most advanced for the rest of the country’s hospitals.

He stressed that this department attends an average of 40 patients per week, a number that is variable since the demand for patients requiring neurological interventions in this hospital increases every day.

He said that with this new equipment they will be able to perform simple and basic trauma procedures such as spinal surgeries.
