They report the highest number of infections among young people

The pandemic is still active in the country. The transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was confirmed yesterday with 1,688 cases and 11 deaths. The Ministry of Health (Ssa) has a record of 5,825,532 people who have had the infection, of which 325,205 have died.

The agency reported that occupancy in hospitals remains at minimum levels, with 3 percent in general beds and one percent in those with a ventilator.

As for active cases, the number decreased by 2,678 compared to those reported on Sunday, to stand at 37,690.

Of these, the states with the most people who started with symptoms of the disease in the past 14 days are Baja California Sur, Mexico City, Sinaloa, Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Colima, Nuevo León, Aguascalientes, Nayarit and Campeche.

In the last five weeks, the largest number of coronavirus infections occurred among the groups of 18 to 29 years, followed by the group of 30 to 39 and 40 to 49.

Regarding vaccination, the Ssa report indicated that 88 million 302 thousand 201 people over 12 years of age have received at least one dose, which is equivalent to a national coverage of 86 percent.

When only those over 18 years of age are taken into account, progress rises to 91 percent, with 81 million 92 thousand 526 adults immunized.

On the application of reinforcement biologicals, the Ssa indicated that the coverage is 66 percent.

The Biological and Reactive Laboratory of Mexico (Birmex) reported that yesterday it distributed more than 170 thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Sinaloa, Yucatán, Tabasco, San Luis Potosí, Mexico City, Querétaro and Tlaxcala, with the support of the armed forces and the National Guard.
