Prosecutor’s Office accuses two ex-police officers of raping a young woman in Managua

The Public Ministry of Nicaragua accuses two ex-police officers from Managua for the crimes of rape, minor psychological injuries and usurpation of functions. Those involved are accused of raping a 21-year-old girl. They remain detained in Police District Two.

The Prosecutor’s Office assures that the crime was committed on the night of May 27, when José Domingo Matamoros Castillo, 24, and Junior Enrique Alonzo Hurtado, 26, were patrolling one of the streets of district two of Managua. The two accused would have consummated the abuse when they were still members of the institution, although in the accusation they attribute the illegal usurpation of functions.

The judicial file number 012627-ORM4-2022-PN indicates that the victim is a 21-year-old girl and that the events occurred on the night of May 21, in the surroundings of the old Dennis Martínez National Stadium.

According to the accusing body, those indicated were traveling on a motorcycle, they found a couple having sexual relations inside a vehicle; The victim’s boyfriend got out of the car and Matamoros told him that they were doing something prohibited and that they would be fined five hundred dollars.

Matamoros got into the vehicle and took them to a more isolated place, while the other defendant was behind them on the motorcycle. Then the victim’s boyfriend and Junior Enrique Alonzo allegedly went to an ATM to withdraw the money.

The tax document indicates that Matamoros told the young woman “now it’s your turn to pay” and raped her; once the defendants met, they boarded the motorcycle and fled the scene.

The preliminary hearing was conducted by Judge Miroslava Calero, of the Second Criminal District Court for Adolescents and Violence, admitted the accusation and the evidence against the detainees and referred the case to oral and public trial. Currently, the now ex-police officers are at the order of the Sixth District Court Specialized in Violence in Managua, where the trial will be held on a date that has not yet been established.
