The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry, with the support of state intelligence agencies, confiscated 81 packets of cocaine, in the midst of a surveillance and monitoring operation in La Altagracia.
The anti-narcotics agents, after receiving reports that several individuals would carry out a transaction of narcotic substances, mounted an extensive operation and intercepted a SUV on the Autovía del Este, near the Cruce de Cabeza de Toro, in Verón.
According to a source, the detainees were identified as Álvaro Montás, Jorge Luis Encarnación and Ángel Fabián.
Later, for security reasons and on instructions from the authorities involved in the operation, the detainees were transferred along with the vehicle to the Altagracia province prosecutor’s office.
According to the anti-drug authorities, in the presence of a prosecutor, the vehicle was seized, occupying four suitcases in the back, with 20 packages each, and another in the drawer in the front, for a total of 81 packages of cocaine.
In the operation, the authorities arrested three Dominicans and seized two nine-millimeter caliber pistols, with two chargers and several capsules, a gray Ford Escape SUV, plate G-391786, several cell phones, personal documents, among other evidence.
The Public Ministry and the DNCD They deepen the investigation and try to establish if it is a network that recruits mules to send drugs to the United States and Europe through airports.
The 81 packages were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) to determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
