Jesica Terán Mejías was accused of misuse of public assets, conspiracy, illegal introduction of cell phones to prisons and delay or omission of functions
The Public Ministry accused Jesica Carolina Terán Mejías of four crimes, who served until a month ago as director of the Rodeo III Judicial Confinement Center, located in Guatire (Miranda), according to judicial sources.
The woman was brought before the Miranda Control 4th Criminal Court, Barlovento extension, where she was accused of improper use of public assets, conspiracy, illegal introduction of cellular equipment to correctional facilities and delay or omission of duties. The Court issued a custodial sentence and ordered her to be confined in the National Institute for Women’s Guidance (Inof), said the source.
Terán Mejías was arrested after last May 25, the day on which agents of the Bolivarian National Guard carried out a search of Rodeo III and located 368 grams of cocaine and 302 of marijuana, according to reports.
Last Saturday, May 27, the Minister for the Penitentiary Service, Celsa Bautista, visited Rodeo III and informed that the new director of that establishment will be Oscar Briceño, according to a publication posted on his social networks.
