LAS AMÉRICAS AIRPORT- A Spirit Airlines flight with more than 150 passengers on board was diverted this Friday afternoon to San Juan, Puerto Rico, due to poor visibility due to bad weather conditions in the area of Las Américas International Airport. Americas, Jose Francisco Pena Gomez.
The Spirit Airlines aircraft was on flight 145 from Fort Lauderdale, South Florida to Las Américas airport.
According to the details, the pilot of the plane, given the low visibility of the runway, chose to divert the aircraft to the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, in Puerto Rico, where it landed without any problem.
Aerodom Dominicanos XXI Airport explained that the decision to divert to that alternate airport was made by the pilot himself and not by the air traffic controllers because a torrential downpour was falling on the airport terminal in the early hours of the afternoon.

In relation to the number of passengers that occupied the plane, it was said that approximately 150 people, many of them foreigners, were destined to land at the AILA.
Regarding the rescheduling of the flight that landed at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Puerto Rico, it was said that the time of return to the Las Américas International Airport had not yet been established.
Concerned family and friends of passengers traveling on the diverted Spirit Airlines flight gathered in the Customer Information area that operates on the second level of the terminal looking for information about their relatives and the flight’s destination.
