“That measure was agreed to on March 30 during a day held by the deputies and judges; but Judge Gilda Molina promised that she would be released at the start of the trial, which was the next day, that is, March 31, but she is still in prison, ”Valentina recounted while visiting the Últimas Noticias newsroom.
“My mother is suffering from infections and has not had pregnancy control,” said Valentina, who exhibited photos of the cell where her mother is, who has an open criminal proceeding for the alleged commission of the crime of aggravated extortion.
Initially, when Desiré Marquez was detained at the El Valle police checkpoint on November 27, 2022, she slept on the floor, a situation that was later corrected.
“I went to the National Police headquarters in La Yaguara at the beginning of April and they told me that a stamp was missing to release my mother; but that was three months ago,” commented Valentina, who also filed complaints with the Public Ministry, the Ombudsman’s Office and the Caracas Criminal Judicial Circuit.
“Now lately they have sent word to my mother to get 6 thousand dollars so that the precautionary measure granted by Judge Gilda Molina becomes effective. I ask the judiciary to enforce the court order, because my mother’s health is deteriorating. No woman would want to give birth in a jail,” she expressed.
