Four members of a group dedicated to extorting passers-by on the Táchira-Colombia border, were captured during a special operation by the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), according to military sources.
The arrest occurred in the Andrés Bello sector, San Antonio del Táchira. Four pistols, three chargers containing 57 special cartridges and a cell phone were seized from the subjects.
The report indicates that the military also seized 390,000 Colombian pesos, ten US dollars and 50 Peruvian soles.
The detainees were registered as Edixon Enrique Peña González, Wilson Moisés Rodríguez Rodríguez, Ninoswka Marianny Padilla Velázquez and Edwin Alfonzo Padilla Velázquez, members of the criminal group Los Transeúntes, according to a report from Detachment 212 of the GNB.
At the time of the arrest, the criminals were demanding money from passers-by to allow them to circulate and not steal their belongings.
The thugs were handed over to the Public Ministry where they opened a file for illegal possession of a firearm, extortion and criminal association.
