They arrest three with 414 packages of cocaine in a boat

Santo Domingo.- The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) with the support of the Dominican Republic Navy, State Intelligence agencies and under the coordination of the Public Ministry (MP), seized 414 packages of cocaine in the province of Pedernales.

The authorities, after receiving an alert, began a joint operation that lasted more than 20 hours, against several men, who on board a boat, had the intention of introducing a shipment of narcotic substances into the country.

After the air, sea and land operation began, DNCD agents and Navy personnel intercepted a 25-foot-long boat with two outboard motors several nautical miles southeast of the Pedernales coast. 75 and 40 horsepower each.

Upon boarding the boat, the authorities arrested three men (two Dominicans and one Colombian) and seized 17 bales containing 414 packages of the substance inside, wrapped in adhesive tape.

In the operation, nine fuel jugs, two life jackets, a tarpaulin, a cooler with water and groceries, among other evidence, were also seized.

“The MP and the DNCD deepen the investigation and try to establish if the seizure is related to other recent cases, after assuring that they are drug trafficking networks whose mode of operation is to bring drugs in speedboats from South America and that they try to use our territory for their criminal activities,” the agency reported.

The detainees are already in the hands of the Public Ministry of the province of Pedernales, while the packages seized in this operation were sent under the chain of custody of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.
