Through the Legislative Council of Anzoátegui, an inspection was requested at the Razetti hospital to determine the problems with the institution, but the applicants have not received a response.
The executive secretary of the Union of Health Workers in Anzoátegui, Giovanni Yaguaracuto, denounced that more than 60 newborn babies have died in the Luis Razetti hospital in Barcelona in recent weeks.
In his opinion, this worrying situation, “and many others”, could have been avoided if the national government had made large investments in the health system, for example, with the money that was recently reported as lost from PDVSA.
“All that money that government officials stole could be invested in hospitals and schools. It is unfortunate that in Anzoátegui more than 60 children have died between the delivery room and the neonatal area due to lack of supplies and the alleged existence of a bacterium,” the spokesperson told Radio Fe y Alegría News.
Yaguaracuto pointed out that, despite requesting an inspection at the Razetti hospital by the health commission of the state Legislative Council, so far they have not responded.
«In 2022 the call was made to the president of the commission, Deputy Stalin Fuentes, but he turned a blind eye. Now we see ourselves in the obligation to prepare another letter for all the legislators, both from the ruling party and from the opposition, so that they personally go to the hospital to verify the problem, “he added.
The trade unionist commented that in recent days he visited the neonatology and delivery room areas of the Razetti hospital. According to what he said, there he collected testimonials from mothers who were asked for an antibiotic worth 120 dollars to combat the supposed bacteria present in the place.
Finally, he described as pitiful what neonates and women are currently experiencing in the main hospital of the entity.
