After losing her job due to the change of government, in one of the State institutions after working as a cleaning staff, Dahiana Féliz, known as “La sierva”, gets up every day to sell goldfish to support her seven children. and four grandchildren.

For many people, the livelihood of this single mother is unlikely, since from sunrise to sunset she settles in a space along Malecón Avenue in Santo Domingo Este, near the floating bridge, to spend her fish.

However, for her it is the circumstantial way to support her family, while she is very clear about the idea that it is a decent job and that no matter how tight the situation is, she would not incur in the wrong thing.

Happy that he barely reached the third grade of primary school, he spoke to elCaribe with great confidence about the work he does every day, where one of his offspring accompanies him most of the time, and takes the opportunity to teach him the value of work and of doing things. well whatever it takes.

While “The servant” commented on everything that had happened throughout her life, it was almost inevitable for her not to grieve and cry, remembering the difficult and needy moments she had to go through with her family after losing her “little safe job”. ”.

“The grace of God kept me standing… there are many situations that I continue to endure, but always hand in hand with the Most High because it is not easy at all,” the 38-year-old lady said through tears.

Dahiana Féliz said that she lives rented in a small house located on Professora Pura street in the El Mamey community of Villa Mella in North Santo Domingo.

The lady allowed the entrance of the Caribbean to her humble home and it was possible to appreciate the precariousness with which they live.

Féliz fearlessly showed the small executive refrigerator she has where she said her “days are numbered” due to the flaws she claims to have.

In addition, he said that he does not even have a gas tank, so they cook from time to time on a stove with charcoal.

“I owe two months of home and every day that passes it becomes difficult for us to secure even food, but God is good and I know that if he did not leave us before, much less now,” he argued.

Their children stopped studying

“La sierva” said that the ages of her children are between three and 20 years old.

However, he regretted that they do not go to school at present, because they have problems with errors in their birth certificates and that he has not been able to solve due to lack of resources.

She stated that even her own birth certificate has erroneous data that has made it impossible for her to enroll herself in courses that over time have interested her to undertake, such as beauty and upholstery.

Ask for help from the first lady and the Minister of the Presidency

The young woman asked the first lady of the Republic, Raquel Arbaje, and the Minister of the Presidency, Lisandro Macarrulla, to obtain a job and a home. She cried out to her deity so that the aforementioned personalities of the current Government listen to her request and can give her a hand so that she can continue to be the breadwinner for her family.

“I want my children to continue on the right path, but to finish their studies and be able to work and help themselves,” said Féliz.
