The sale of 0 km vehicles in Uruguay expanded again during September with the placement of 4,869 units and grew 5.7% compared to the same month last year. In addition to being the second best monthly record of 2022 (only surpassed by the 5,893 units of March), this business chained a quarter of rise in the year-on-year comparison.
In the July-September quarter 13,356 vehicles 0 km were sold, volume that meant a rise of 5.6% compared to the same period in 2021, according to data released by the Automotive Trade Association (ACAU). On the other hand, in the accumulated January-September39,561 0 km units have been installed, a figure that implies a 3.3% growth compared to the same period last year (+1,261 units).
September, the the sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment was the one that showed the greatest dynamism in the year-on-year comparison with the sale of 1,218 units and a growth of 34% in the year-on-year comparison. In the case of passenger cars, there was barely a 0.9% rise, with 2,111 vehicles, while utility vehicles grew 2.1% with 1,267 vehicles sold in September.
On the opposite sidewalk, there was a strong retraction in the sale of trucks (-27%) with a total of 256 units, almost 100 less than the same month last year.
