The removal of the remains of an abandoned ship in the bay of Montevideo has been completed

Specifically, the milestone was related to the work carried out in the Port of Capurro to scrap the ship MS11, in accordance with the disarmament plan approved by the National Naval Prefecture, which includes environmental care.

The task was carried out by the company Fewell SA, a member of the Christophersen Group, a company that was awarded the scrapping work for 25 ships located in the Bay of Montevideo. The tender was originally commissioned to three firms, of which two ceded their rights to Fewell.

In this way, the Fewell 3 and Fewell 4 cranes disassembled and assembled the modules and remains of the MS11 on board a barge, the above with the aim of transferring the remains of the ship to the assigned property in Punta de Sayago.

It should be remembered that, in 2020, the then president of the ANP, Alberto Díaz, handed over the land where the tasks of discarding the scrap generated in the process of dismantling the ships are currently being concluded.
