On December 22, the guarantee judge, Mónica Barrios, charged Teresina Vigil with the alleged commission of the crime of organized crime and ordered her preventive detention.
The Public Ministry reported that the Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime filed an appeal this Wednesday, due to the change in the precautionary measure that a guarantee judge granted on Tuesday to Teresina Vigil, sister of the Panamanian deputy, Elías Vigil, who was in provisional detention.
The lawyer Leonardo Paul, legal representative of Vigil, confirmed that during a hearing to review precautionary measures and after providing a series of evidence, the guarantee judge granted the precautionary measure of home deposit to his client.
Paul did not explain whether the measure was due to health problems of his client and only limited himself to confirming the change of precautionary measure to home for jail.
Vigil is being investigated for her alleged link to a criminal network led by Carlos Roberto Aguilar (alias Robert) and which was dismantled through “Operation Damasco”.
