Through a statement, the Public ministry (MP) announced that the Corruption Investigation Division linked to Organized Crime of the Directorate against Corruption (DIRCOCOR – PNP) has been requested to present a report in relation to the video surveillance carried out on the former Minister of Transport and Communications, John Silvaafter his preliminary arrest was ordered by the Judiciary.
As stated, the purpose of said petition is to determine that the provisions issued by the Prosecutor’s Office regarding the monitoring of the activities carried out by Silva Villegas during the last week, within the framework of the investigations for his involvement in alleged acts of corruption with respect to the works of the Tarata III Bridge.

It is important to specify that, according to what is established in a point of the document issued by the MP, the video surveillance of the former holder of the Transport portfolio She was ordered on May 27, two days after the order preventing her from leaving the country for 36 months was issued against her, given the seriousness of the legal accusations, entrusting the task of supervision to the Dincocor of the National Police of Peru (PNP).
For the time being, the police authorities have stated that they do not know the whereabouts of Juan Silva Villegas, so its capture could not be executed. However, the defendant’s attorney, Alfredo Yalan, has indicated that his sponsor has not fled the country nor does he intend to do so, and stated that he is “in good hands.” The lawyer also stated that he was not notified of the arrest warrant that weighs on his client.

For his part, the National Superintendent of Migrations, Jorge Fernández, indicated in a telephone communication with Canal N that the former minister would not have crossed any of the national borders, to which he added that since May 27 the border posts had been informed on how to act in the event of a possible presence of Silva in these sectors, through an informative migratory alert, which, added to the preliminary detention order, would make it impossible to leave the former head of the MTC through any of the border controls.
Meanwhile, following the order issued by the Prosecutor’s Office, the Minister of the Interior, Dimitri Senmacheassured that the corresponding coordination has already begun to proceed with the capture of Juan Silva, arranging for his immediate search in the places he could frequent, as well as the reinforcement of the border positions, in order to avoid a situation similar to the one that happened with former magistrate César Hinostroza, who managed to escape from the country through the border between Peru and Ecuador in 2018.
