The Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) reported this Tuesday that the number of people in a situation of partial or total unemployment insurance rose in May, totaling 46,501, with an increase of 2,554 people compared to the previous month.
Of these people, 79.9% are in total unemployment insurance, adding 37,172 workers. The rest of the 20.1%, or 9,327, are in the partial.
“The number of workers in unemployment insurance is once again, after the reduction registered in April, within the average of the last semester,” indicates the MTSS statement.
Fired or reinstated
The portfolio report also indicates that there is a group of 7,560 people who left unemployment insurance in May, of which 3,018 were reinstated in jobs.
The other group of 4,542 were fired. “10,114 almost a thousand more people entered unemployment insurance than in April and practically the same amount as in March. Of them, 4,540 (44.9%) entered unemployment insurance due to dismissal, while 5,574 (55.1%) were due to reduction or suspension”, reads the report.
In the same month but last year, there were 33,860 more people.
