This Tuesday the number of fatal victims rose to eleven. Gas leak and subsequent explosion of a cylinder in a house in the Unión de Petare neighborhood, Miranda state, on Monday morning.
The director of Civil Protection of the Sucre municipality, Leonardo Vega, reported that until Monday evening the death toll was 8, however in the early hours of Tuesday morning three more bodies were found, which increases the number of fatalities to 11.
He said that 8 adults, 1 teenager and 2 infants died as a result of the explosion.
Vega also reported that the search efforts were completed on Tuesday morning and that nearby homes are being inspected to assess the damage.
The governor of the entity, Hector Rodriguez said on Monday that 22 people were rescued and transferred to different health centers in the entity.
Social care teams and security forces are also on site, providing all the support and assistance to victims and their families.
