The most sought after destinations for the 2023 tourism week: offer and prices

The summer season in Uruguay has not ended or is close to ending, and yet, according to travel agencies, There are already many Uruguayans who began to think about their next vacation: tourism weekwhich is presented as an opportunity to extend the summer by visiting beach destinations.

This is why more than two months before the start of the tourism week, Miami, the Caribbean, Salvador de Bahía and Rio de Janeiro are the destinations most in demand by Uruguayansaccording to the e-commerce director of 5M Travel Group —which brings together the agencies: Jetmar, Hiperviajes, Buemes, TocTocViajes and Tienda Viajes—, Andrés Gil.

In addition, in the group of best-selling cities at this time of the year, Madrid stands out, because the anticipation varies according to the destination and as explained by Gil: “Obviously the most distant destinations have more anticipation, and it has already manifested itself.”

The requested packages

Beyond how the demand is currently, gil —who is also CEO of TocTocViajes—, He said that the vedette is always Brazil. We have several charters to areas such as Buzios, Recife, Rio and Salvadorbut they are just being put up for sale,” he said regarding the level of sales that these areas currently have.

He also maintained that due to the lack of supply, demand by land is growing, which It has been moving “especially well” in destinations in southern Brazilwith Florianópolis as the star.

For his part, the director of BN Tours, Juan Barrio, said that the agency has already put together programs for the classic destinations of this week of tourism: Brazil and Argentina, which due to the difference in the exchange rate is much more requested than previous years.

By the way, he said that they are already selling packages to Iguazu Falls (from US$425), Florianopolis (from US$525), buzios (from US$1100), Rio de Janeiro (from US$1100), Porto de Galinhas (from US$1300), Imbassai (from US$ 2800) and the Patagonia: Bariloche, Calafate and Ushuaiafor which on key days, that is, on weekends, there are no more quotas.

The general manager of Hiperviajes, Fernando Riva, agreed with his colleagues that the destinations most sought after by customers are Brazil and Argentina, and added to the list of the most requested in the Caribbean. As for the cost of travel, Riva pointed out that, with the exception of the neighboring country, they are between 20% and 30% more expensive than before the pandemic.

According to neighborhood, in Caribbean destinations –especially Punta Cana, Playa del Carmen-, the price of the trip is from US$ 2900; always with accommodation in all-inclusive five-star hotels.

Other destinations

As the CEO of TocToc Viajes made clear when he exemplified Madrid, in addition to the beach There are other destinations that Uruguayans travel to during a tourism week. And in these “most exotic” places, as defined by the director of BN Tours, It is difficult to put together packages because air tickets are not usually obtained. So, reservations to travel are made with more anticipation, and the trip is tailored to the client.

Currently, the most requested cities in this type of trips are Orlando and Miamiwhose cost depends on what the client wants to do in each destination, and the Spanish capital with a cost of around US$ 1,400 per person.

The week of demand

Gil said that in the tourism week the demand always exceeds the supply which encourages travelers to anticipate purchase.

“For us it is one of the busiest weeks of the year”affirmed, along the same lines, Barrio, who concluded: “Customers who want to travel during a tourist week know that they have to plan ahead of time.”
