The activity took place on August 19, at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism (FADU). The director of the Salvador Schelotto master’s program, the member of the FADU postgraduate commission, Alina del Castillo, the national director of Territorial Planning Norbertino Suárez, teachers and students of the master’s program participated in the opening.
In his speech, Suárez celebrated the start of the new edition of the master’s degree, understanding the importance of getting more people to be educated and trained at the highest level in territorial planning, with a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. He thanked the opportunity that FADU offers to the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MVOT), in particular to the National Directorate of Territorial Planning (Dinot), to be able to collaborate in this training instance.
In turn, the national director expressed the difficulty that sometimes exists to internalize in some political, social and administrative spheres, the importance of territorial planning as a discipline, as a tool and instrument for planning and managing the territory. He also highlighted the efforts being made to socialize land use planning with the strategic vision focused on sustainable development.
La Dinot has supported this master’s degree since its inception. In this edition, it is also committed to generating new exchanges during the courses. Dinot will bring concerns and problems about the territorial dynamics present today, so that they can be considered in thesis work. In addition, it will make available the capacities that the institution has, in relation to the use of data or the generation of links and exchanges to be able to develop some topics of interest. It will also offer the possibility for the masters to carry out internships, which will allow them to obtain credits in the postgraduate program.
In this sense, Schelotto appreciated the opportunity to articulate with Dinot. He argued that if this were not the case, it would be a purely speculative exercise in many respects; that the possibility of working with the problems and demands of reality through the organizations is one of the opportunities to improve skills and training.
