The Secretary of Internal Trade, Roberto Feletti, held a series of meetings on Wednesday with representatives of supermarkets, wholesalers and local businesses with the aim of forming a basket of 100 products that can be implemented in small-scale stores throughout the country. .
The Undersecretary of Actions for the Defense of Consumers, Liliana Schwindt, and the Undersecretary of Policies for the Internal Market, Antonio Mezmezian, also participated in the meetings, it was reported this afternoon.
As part of the evaluation of the implementation of the +Care Prices program, the secretary warned at the meetings that “in February inspections will be intensified to monitor the correct use of signage and compliance with supply and agreed prices.”
In this context of analysis of the first month of implementation of the new stage of the program, one of the highlights that were discussed in the meetings was to set up a work table to begin to agree on a basket of more than 100 products, arising from the list of +Prices Care.
In this case, differential values will be sought for local businesses with a single outlet, “that recognizes profit margins that allow profitability to be maintained,” it was explained.
In the next week the meetings of this table will be resumed, in which they will work on the list of products that the grocers, supermarkets and self-services have promised to make from the 1,321 products that make up the + Care Prices basket.
Also the production companies, wholesalers and distributors will join in the preparation of this basket and the definition of their prices.
“We want to extend the program to as many marketing outlets as possible. We seek to reach an agreement with local businesses, we are going to try to agree on a number of products less than the program of the large chains, according to the size of the business, which self-service stores and stores are going to have to offer at the price agreed with the Secretariat Feletti remarked.
In addition, the official added that this initiative “is also a demand in the interior of the country, which asks us to intercede in the relationship between wholesalers and local businesses.”
In this sense, during the work table with representatives of stores and supermarkets, work was done on the preparation of the possible list with the products that would make up the basket and on how to implement the program and maintain competitiveness.
In addition, the possibility of adding regional products was analyzed, working with each province to add local SMEs to the program.
“The +Precios Care basket is working, what we want is to expand the offer in more marketing mouths and in that you are key. Our policy is to secure and consolidate the basket. We want local trade to also be part of the benefits of the program”, the secretary assured them.
These meetings are added to the meeting that was held yesterday with the authorities of the Association of United Supermarkets (ASU) to evaluate the operation of +Precios Cares during the first month since its relaunch.
In said meeting, the supermarket owners expressed their support for the program and highlighted that the products that make it up are the most sought after by consumers due to their quality and affordable price.
Gustavo Marcantonio from Micropack; Claudia Rueda and Mariano Casa de Vitall; Luciano Roveda of Makro; Matías Moltalvan de Jaguar; Diego Molaro from Diarco; Juan Manuel Fera from Maxiconsumo SA and Lionel Muñoz from Parodi.
Also participating were Alejandro Savore (president) of the Federation of Grocers, Retailers, Food Self-Services and Related Entities of the Province of Buenos Aires; Ricardo Alberto Zorzon president of CAS; Pedro Oroz, administrator of CAS and FASA, Victor Palpacelli, president of FASA; Maria Gabriela Jaureguizar, Juan Darío Milito de Rosario, Yolanda Durand and Denise Gornatti from the Argentine Chamber of Chinese Supermarkets.
At the beginning of January, the Government agreed with a hundred companies on a basket of 1,300 essential products, including groceries, cleaning, and personal hygiene, so that it “serves as an anchor for inflation,” according to Feletti.
In the next week the meetings of this table will be resumed, in which they will work on the list of products that the grocers, supermarkets and self-services promised to make from the 1,321 products that make up the + Care Prices basket, said the official information.
