The future of the world is uncertain, assured Ignacio Ramonet

The Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet assured today that nobody can predict what will happen in the next few days regarding the conflagration in Ukraine, not even in the theater of operations.

In an interview granted to the president of TeleSur, Patricia Villegas, the renowned intellectual analyzed the conflict and its consequences in the medium and long term.

“This situation has, on the one hand, a military edge, it is a war of confrontation between two countries with a local theater, the Ukrainian territory, but otherwise it is an economic, commercial, financial, monetary, media world war, it is a world war in many other aspects”, sentenced the analyst.

Ramonet emphasized that no State is exempt from the conflict, because the consequences reach everyone, which will trigger social protests in many countries, because the cost of living rises more and more.

Regarding the sanctions applied to Russia by the United States and European countries, he pointed out that this creates an international context with repercussions of all kinds and gave as an example the rise in gasoline, electricity, food, raw materials and metals like nickel.

Regarding the meeting of the representatives of the White House with the Bolivarian Government, he specified that it was a great geopolitical surprise, although – he stressed – President Nicolás Maduro is always open to dialogue and negotiation.

“Venezuela’s position is very clear on the harassment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) against Russia. The Foreign Ministry has always spoken out in favor of peace and understanding, against any hegemony,” she said.

On the other hand, he explained, it is a recognition of the legitimate president and the Venezuelan administration itself erased former deputy Juan Guaidó from the scene.

The Spanish journalist stressed that this is the first war in which social networks play a main role, where the essential media actor is the networks, where the situation is manipulated, and in which the voice of the media was cut off. Russians.

The networks, he said, saturate the information and news about Ukraine with all kinds of falsehoods, a great emotional manipulation, they are dominant and mark the whole of the news, the main story is being imposed in a distorted way.
