The fiscal deficit ended the year at 3.4% of the Gross domestic product (GDP) with an improvement compared to a year ago when it had ended at 4.1%.
In the red of the public accounts of 3.4%, income to the Social Security Trust (FSS). The result of the Central Government – Banco de Previsión Social (BPS) was -3.2%, as reported on Tuesday by Ministry of Economy (MEF).
The economist Aldo Lema wrote on his Twitter account that, despite the annual improvement, Uruguay’s overall fiscal deficit closed above the levels observed towards the third quarter (2.7%).
The income of the Central Government – Banco de Previsión Social closed 2022 at 26.1% of GDP with a decrease of 0.5% compared to 2021.
Primary expenses were located at 26.9% of the Product with a decrease of 1.3% compared to the previous year.
The result of the public enterprises stood at 0.1% and decreased 0.5%. The decrease in the current primary result was based on a lower result of joint venture that a year before had obtained extraordinary profits from exports of electrical energy.
In turn, the investments of public companies (including the change in inventories of ancap), increased 0.1% of GDP, according to the MEF.
