In the last few hours it was published in the Official Journal of the European Union that “operators are prohibited from disseminating, allowing, facilitating or otherwise contributing to the broadcast of any content by legal persons, entities or bodies listed in the Annex XV, including through transmission or distribution by any means, such as: cable, satellite, IP-TV, Internet service providers, Internet video sharing platforms or applications, whether new or previously installed”.
“Any broadcasting license or authorization, transmission and distribution agreement entered into with the legal persons, entities or bodies listed in Annex XV is suspended,” the resolution indicates.
This provision includes: Russia Today (RT) in English, RT- Russia Today in the United Kingdom, RT Russia Today in Germany, RT- Russia Today in France, RT- Russia Today in Spanish and Sputnik.
Other restrictions
Added to this is Russia’s partial disconnection from the Society for Worldwide Interbank and Financial Communications, known as the SWIFT system, an international payment system; the closure of airspace for Russian airlines and the paralysis of the international reserves of the Russian Central Bank.
Such reprisals began after the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, on February 24, to initiate the “special military operation” in Ukraine alleging that the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, recognized by Russia as sovereign states, need “help against the genocide” by Kiev, reported Sputnik.
