The arrival of Cubans in the territory of the United States continues to increase

The immigration authorities of the United States revealed that in the last seven months some 115,000 cuban migrants have arrived in that country.

According to the Office of Customs and Border Protection (CBP, for its acronym in English) since the beginning of the fiscal year in October, 114,916 Cubans have entered US territory.

In April alone, the entity specified, the entry of 35,079 immigrants from Cuba was registered.

The report states that most of the income has been through the southern border with Mexico, where 34,821 Cuban citizens entered in April alone. In turn, through the border with Canada, to the north, only 45 Cubans arrived last month.

The crisis that the Island is going through, marked by severe shortages, high inflation, repeated power outages and social unrest – a combination that produced the largest anti-government protests in decades last year – has led thousands of people to leave the country, the largest number irregularly.

The current exodus is only compared to that of Mariel, in the early 1980s.

The US authorities, who recently resumed talks on the migration issue with the Cuban side, speculate that by the end of October 2022 some 155,000 Cubans could have arrived in US territory.
